Plastic Bag Tax Casualty Of The Week

The cost of the iniquitous plastic bag tax imposed in October mounts. This week the Nelson Packaging Company based in the Lancashire town of nelson announced that it was going to close down after 40 years of manufacturing plastic bags. Some forty employees have lost their jobs.

The Managing Director, Michael Flynn, blamed the government’s 5p tax and foreign competition for the company’s demise, with plastic bag usage reportedly dropping by as much as 70%.

Where will it end?
