Love may no bounds but the search for cheap fags does.
Like many an unnamed Frenchman left his home in Perpignan by car to cross the border into Spain to La Jonquera to stock up on cheap cigarettes, Unfortunately, he was turned back at the border because of the Coronavirus travel restrictions.
Undeterred he decided to take a cross-country route by foot. Alas, misfortune struck him as he fell into a stream and then some brambles, before getting lost and having to summon the emergency services to rescue him.
He was quickly found although he was reported as being “exhausted, shivering with cold and lost”. Not only did he not get his fags, but he copped a €135 fine for breaking France’s lockdown rules.
A false economy, it would seem.
