A landmark in Dublin for years has been a statue of the Virgin Mary outside Leo Fitzgerald House. The residents, imbued with communal spirit, decided that it was high time the area had a bit of a makeover, hedges clipped, that sort of thing, and the statue receive a deep clean.

A case of immaculate deception, you might say.
